Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and in compliance with the directives regularly
issued by the Government of Kenya to curb the spread of the virus, the IMC/KSF has
made the decision to cancel the Kenya National Championships (Trials) scheduled for
April 9-12, 2020. KSF is acutely aware that the consequences of COVID-19 are wide
ranging and serious and remain keen to ensure that all our members remain safe and
compliant with the directives issued by the Government and other relevant authorities.
Taking into consideration that all public and private training facilities should remain
closed to the public until further directions from the Government; all counties
organisations/associations, clubs, coaches, officials and swimmers are reminded to
ensure that all levels of training programs, including “learn to swim”, all competitions
(at any level from social/club up to the National) and any swimming related gatherings
are to stand suspended until the next review scheduled at least April 30, 2020.
The IMC/KSF shall further communicate at the end of April 2020, or as soon as the
circumstances allow, on the status of the current swim season. We ask the entire
swimming community to put the welfare of the swimmers, coaches and officials first and
create a safe environment for all, and, in line with the steps taken by the Government of
Kenya, exercise prudence and responsible behaviour until it is deemed safe to resume
any training and competitions.
We encourage all to observe all the government directives on self-isolation, hygiene,
social/physical distancing, local and global travel restrictions.
The IMC/KSF shall continue to monitor the situation and keep our membership
informed on further development, and as we work to resume the competition calendar
and further activities as organized by the Federation.
